Our community-driven storehouse thrives on the hands and hearts of our people. Whether you have a green thumb for the Maara or a passion for hospitality in Te Kihini, there is a place for you here.
Maara (Garden): Help us plant, weed, and harvest fresh produce for the community.
Pātaka (Food Pantry): Assist with sorting surplus food and preparing kai for distribution.
Te Kihini (Kitchen): Share your cooking skills or help prepare shared meals and learning workshops.
Whare Kākahu (Clothing Store): Help curate and organise quality clothing to ensure it reaches whānau with respect.
Join the Whānau: If you have a few hours to spare each week, we’d love to have you.
We believe in a "circular system" where nothing goes to waste and everyone is looked after. Your contributions help keep local food in local hands.
Donate Food & Goods
We gratefully accept donations of:
Fresh Produce: Surplus from your home gardens.
Non-Perishables: Unopened canned goods, pasta, rice, and pantry staples.
Quality Clothing: Clean, gently used clothing for the Whare Kākahu.
Essential Resources: Toiletries and hygiene products.
Q: Can I donate items outside of opening hours?
A: To ensure donations are handled with care and respect, please only drop off items during our opening hours. This helps us manage our space and our kaimahi to say 'thank you'
Monetary donations allow us to purchase essential items that aren't donated and help maintain our facilities at 33 Wise Street.

Empower your team while strengthening our community.
At Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai, we can offer unique opportunities for organisations to move beyond traditional charity and enter into a circular system of Manaakitanga (care) and Whanaungatanga (connection).
Get out of the office and onto the whenua.
Maara Working Bees: Help us maintain our community gardens—planting, weeding, and harvesting.
Pātaka Pantry Support: A high-energy session sorting bulk donations and organizing our storehouse to ensure whānau receive kai with dignity.
The 'Pre-loved' Refresh: Help our Whare Kākahu team curate and organize quality clothing donations.
Use our kitted-out kitchen for your next professional development day.
Cook for a Cause' Workshop: Your team spends a half-day in Te Kihini learning a new culinary skill, then prepares a batch of nutritious meals to be distributed through our Pātaka.
Cultural Connection & Shared Lunch: A guided tour of our circular food system, doing some mahi, followed by a catered lunch. Perfect for teams looking to deepen their understanding of community-led Māori initiatives.
Barista & Mentorship Morning: Learn the basics of coffee making from our talented rangatahi in the cafe. A great way to mentor youth while building team morale.
Note: These sessions are priced at-cost to cover ingredients and facilitators, with an added donation component to support our ongoing mahi.
Small actions from your staff make a big difference for ours.
Themed Donation Drives: We provide the "High-Need List," and your team competes to fill the bins! (e.g., Winter Warmth Drive or Protein Pantry Drive).
Sponsor a Workshop: Your organization can "Adopt-a-Workshop," covering the costs for a community cooking class so whānau can attend for free.
Payroll Giving: A simple way for employees to make regular, tax-deductible contributions directly from their pay.
Garden Bed Sponsorship: A business pays a monthly "subscription" ($20–$50) to sponsor a specific garden bed in the Maara. In return, you place a small wooden plaque with their logo on that bed.
The 'Milk & Coffee' Fund: A local office can sponsor the milk and coffee beans for the rangatahi cafe for one month.
