At Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai, we operate a circular system of manaakitanga designed to nourish both the land and the people.
Our journey begins in the Maara, where we reconnect with the whenua to grow sustainable produce, which then flows into our Pātaka to ensure whānau have access to fresh kai and essential resources with dignity. In Te Kihini, we transform this harvest into shared meals and learning opportunities, currently featuring a vibrant, youth-led cafe where our rangatahi build hospitality skills serving barista coffee and toasties. To ensure our care extends to every facet of whānau wellbeing, our Whare Kākahu provides quality, pre-loved clothing in a space that prioritises respect and choice, with all proceeds going back to the Pataka.
Together, these four pillars—Maara, Pātaka, Te Kihini, and Whare Kākahu—create a resilient community hub dedicated to growing kai, growing people, and growing futures.
